The sustained campaign of foreign information manipulation and interference continues. Its purpose is to influence Romania’s public opinion by inciting hate or generating negative emotions. Through systematic and massive dissemination of fake news and disinformation, mostly through social media, its objective is to generate mistrust and societal division.
A set of tactics, techniques and procedures associated with Kremlin orchestrated campaigns is also being used in conjunction with official messaging. Often these foreign influence campaigns spread anti-NATO, anti-EU, anti-Ukraine, or against Republic of Moldova propaganda.
Romanian authorities are prepared and will continue to refute systematically such fake news and disinformation.
This is however a task for all of us.
